482 Skills in Demand Visa.
Nomination done right.
The 482 nomination is where most employers make mistakes — wrong occupation code, incomplete LMT, salary below threshold. We get it right the first time. Every nomination is prepared personally and lodged with a complete evidence file.
Three things the Department
needs to see clearly.
A 482 nomination is not a form. It is an evidence submission. The Department assesses whether the position is genuine, whether you've tested the local market, and whether the salary is at or above market rate.
Each nomination we prepare is built around your specific role, your specific business, and the specific evidence that answers these questions. No templates. No shortcuts.
Labour Market Testing
You must demonstrate you've genuinely tried to fill the role locally before looking overseas. Advertisements must run for at least 28 consecutive days, state the job title, required skills, and salary, and be published on approved platforms. Timing matters — LMT must be completed within the required window before nomination.
Genuine Position
The Department assesses whether the nominated role is real, operationally necessary, and correctly classified under the ANZSCO occupation code. Misclassification is one of the most common nomination errors. We verify the correct code for every role before lodgement.
Market Salary Rate
The nominated salary must match or exceed both the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) and what an equivalent Australian worker earns in the same role and location. We benchmark every nomination against current market data and salary survey evidence.
Which stream fits your role?
Core Skills Stream
For occupations on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL). The standard pathway for most IT, engineering, and professional roles. Up to 4 years.
PR pathway: Yes via 186
Specialist Skills Stream
For high-earning specialists regardless of occupation. No occupation list restriction — but salary must meet the specialist skills threshold. Ideal for senior executives and niche technical roles.
PR pathway: Yes via 186
Labour Agreement Stream
For roles where a formal labour agreement exists between the employer and the Department. Used for industries with specific workforce needs — including some aged care, agriculture, and meat industry roles.
PR pathway: case by case
What employers ask before nominating.
What is the 482 visa?
A temporary skilled visa allowing approved sponsors to employ overseas workers in nominated occupations for up to four years.
Do I need a skills assessment?
Some occupations and passport countries require it. We confirm the requirement for your specific role before lodgement — no surprises.
What are my obligations as sponsor?
Market salary rate, record-keeping, not recovering prohibited costs from the worker, and notifying the Department of changes in employment.
Can family members be included?
Yes — eligible partners and children can be added as secondary applicants on the same visa application.
What is the PR pathway?
After two years on a 482 visa, your worker can transition to permanent residency via the 186 Temporary Residence Transition stream — provided the role and employer remain the same.
How long does nomination processing take?
Processing times vary. We monitor current times and advise on realistic expectations. Complete, well-prepared nominations process faster than incomplete ones.
