- English Language Test Results: Submit test scores from an approved English language test. The Department of Home Affairs accepts scores from the following tests taken at secure test centres:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic or General Training): At least 6 in each component.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): At least 12 for listening, 13 for reading, 21 for writing, and 18 for speaking.
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): At least 50 in each component.
- Occupational English Test (OET): At least a B in the four components.
- Cambridge C1 Advanced test: From 12 February 2024, only paper-based test results are accepted, with a minimum score of 169 in each of the four components.
Important Notes on Test Scores
- The Department of Home Affairs does not accept any ‘at-home’ or ‘online’ test versions for Australian migration purposes. Ensure you take your test at a secure test centre.
- For TOEFL iBT, tests completed between 26 July 2023 and 4 May 2024 are not accepted.
- Test results must be valid at the time of application and not over three years old.
Other Requirements for the Subclass 186 Visa
